Our Styles

At Cat on The Mat, we believe in giving our teachers creative agency over their classes so that they can be authentic and show up for you at their most enriched. As a result, whilst we offer the following styles of yoga, there is no single set sequence per style and there may be variations between each teacher’s yoga sequence. At our studio, we value this natural way of practising movement whilst increasing neuroplasticity.

Yin & Nidra

(Gentle)

55 mins

Yin & Nidra is suitable for all levels, with its main focus being deep relaxation. This class combines Yin yoga, in which passive poses are held for extended periods, with Yoga Nidra, a form of guided meditation alternatively known as ‘yogic sleep.’ With the use of props, the Yin sequence allows you to slowly sink into a series of restful postures that target and stretch connective tissues - such as fascia, ligaments, and tendons. Followed by guided relaxation, the two practices compliment each other in rebalancing the nervous system, calming the mind, and reducing tension in the body.
